About Mat
I started my career as an investment banker — working across global capital markets, which gave me a deep, sometimes uncomfortable, understanding of how money really works at every level.
That knowledge eventually frustrated me enough to do something about it. I founded HyperJar — a spending management app that helped over 700,000 people take control of their finances in a world of instant payments, subscriptions, and BNPL. HyperJar is now evolving as HyperLayer.
The book — 10 Things I Love About Money — grew from the same frustration. It won Best Personal Finance Book of the Year. Not because it's complicated, but because it isn't. Small changes. Real impact. Anyone can do this.
Outside of work I'm a single dad, a fitness junkie, and a firm believer that a full, balanced life is not at odds with professional ambition.
